Digital Sustainability Policy
Last updated: November 2025
Our Commitment
At Report Zero, digital sustainability is embedded in every aspect of how we design, build and operate technology.
We recognise the environmental impact of digital infrastructure and commit to reducing that impact through efficient, responsible and transparent practices.
This policy applies to all Report Zero systems, services, and operations, including the SaaS platform, supporting IT environments, and supplier ecosystem.
Our Principles
1. Energy and Resource Efficiency
We minimise energy use across our operations by:
- Operating on energy-efficient cloud and colocation infrastructure.
- Optimising workloads to run on the most efficient platform and in locations that reduce carbon intensity.
- Using power-efficient software, storage, and network configurations.
2. Renewable Energy
Wherever feasible, we power our operations using renewable energy. Our preference is direct renewable sourcing through our cloud and hosting providers, ensuring that consumption supports low-carbon generation.
3. Circular and Responsible IT
We manage all IT assets responsibly:
- Extending the life of devices through reuse and refurbishment.
- Partnering with certified e-waste and ITAD providers for responsible recycling.
- Prioritising suppliers with demonstrable circular-economy credentials.
4. Smart Work Practices
We operate as a remote-first organisation. By eliminating unnecessary office space and travel, we reduce emissions associated with commuting and facilities.
Our hybrid working approach supports both environmental and wellbeing outcomes.
5. Sustainable Procurement
We select suppliers and technology partners who share our environmental standards.
Where possible, we evaluate vendors on sustainability performance and alignment with recognised frameworks (e.g. SBTi, CDP, ISO 14001).
6. Employee Awareness and Accountability
All employees receive awareness training on sustainable digital practices. We expect every team member to act responsibly when using technology, from device management to data efficiency and travel choices.
7. Transparency and Data-Driven Improvement
We continuously measure, monitor and report the environmental performance of our digital operations. Using data and analytics, we identify opportunities to reduce consumption, improve efficiency, and track progress against our sustainability goals.
8. Governance and Compliance
We comply with all relevant environmental and digital sustainability regulations, and wherever possible, exceed minimum standards. We maintain internal governance structures to review progress and ensure accountability.
9. Stakeholder Engagement
We engage openly with customers, investors, and partners about our environmental performance. Our clients expect credible, measurable action, and we share results transparently through our reporting processes.
10. Carbon Management and Offsetting
Our focus is always on direct reduction before offsetting. We currently do not purchase offsets.
If used in future, they will only apply to residual emissions that cannot yet be eliminated and will support high-quality, independently verified projects.
Continuous Improvement
We see digital sustainability as a process of ongoing learning and refinement. We will continue to measure our footprint, assess new opportunities for reduction, and publish progress updates as part of our transparency commitment.
Conclusion
For Report Zero, sustainability is both an environmental and operational imperative. Reducing digital impact improves efficiency, resilience and value for our customers.
We are committed to leading by example and embedding these principles into every aspect of our technology and culture.
